About Jon Jung

Jon Jung (aka “Coffin Jon”) is the producer and host of the VCinema podcast and editor-in-chief of the VCinema blog. He contributed several essays to World Film Locations: Tokyo (Intellect, 2011). Jon lives in San Francisco, but wishes he was back in Japan where he lived for seven years.

VCinema Contest Deadline: July 4th!

If you have already listened to episode 9 of the podcast (and if you haven’t, get on it here), you have already heard my mother-like reminders of the VCinema Listener Review Contest deadline.  For those of you who are more visually oriented, here goes: be sure to get your entries in before July 4th.  To find out details on how to enter you can click the link above or, just for a quick summary:

  • Entry must include at least one review of a film from the Asian region.  You may submit
  • Text or mp3 entries can be submitted to vcinema@variedcelluloid.net or, by voice mail, (206) 338-3864.  Please note that the voice mail number is a toll call.
  • Entries are judged by quality, not quantity
  • Grand prize winner will be awarded a VCinema Movie Prize Package which includes one R1 DVD each of Black Rain (Imamura, 1989) and Doppelganger (2003, Kurosawa) and a signed copy of Tokyoscope: The Japanese Cult Film Companion by Patrick Macias, our episode 5 guest.  Other random items will be thrown into the package.
