The VCinema Show Second Anniversary Haiku Contest

Break out the party favors and jelly beans!  Our podcast, The VCinema Show, will be celebrating its second anniversary next episode.  During episode 38 (which is out now!), we announce our contest to celebrate this event, but we were goofing around a lot, so here’s a clearer explanation on how to enter.

Compose a haiku about VCinema!

Yeah, that’s right!  That’s all it takes for a chance to win!  Now, most of you already know that a haiku is a three line poem in which the first line has five syllables, the second has seven syllables, and the final also has five syllables.  You can skip putting in the season word and all that other foofy stuff listed in Wikipedia, just a straight up 5-7-5 poem about your favorite Asian film podcast and blog (that’s VCinema, in case you forgot).  Make them funny, kooky, creative, artistic, poetic, find a way to conceal $20 bills into them, whatever it takes to attract our otherwise dull attentions.  If your haiku is selected as one of the best of the entrants, you can win some cool second anniversary contest prizes.

Did I say prizes?  Yeah, that’s right!  We got some pretty nice swag to give to the lucky winners.  We have five standard region 1 DVD copies of Beat Takeshi’s 2010 film Outrage (courtesy of Magnet Releasing), three 30 day Japan Flix streaming video passes to watch all of the Well Go USA titles in their catalog (eligible films are listed here), a guest spot on our podcast on which you can choose the film, and some other prizes that are in the VCinema treasure chest of fun.

You can submit as many haikus as you like since winning entries will be based on quality and not a draw of the hat.  However, entries must by received by 11:59PM PST on Friday, February 10th, 2012.    Entries can be emailed to and please put “HOLY MOLY SECOND ANNIVERSARY CONTEST” in the subject line of your email.  Entries may be reprinted on our blog or read on the podcast and all winners will be announced on episode 39 of the podcast.
