This Saturday, March 10th, the Shinsedai Cinema Festival is having a sneak peek party & screening at Cinecycle on 129 Spadina Ave. in downtown Toronto. Doors open at 7:00PM.
Shinsedai be announcing the opening night film of their 2012 Japanese film festival, and screening the omnibus comedy Quirky Guys and Gals (2011, our review here) from the makers of Survive Style 5+ & Fine, Totally Fine) along with the animated short United Colors of Bean (2010) directed by Yasushi Asai.
Throughout the night, there will be a charity raffle for Tohoku Relief with $1 from every raffle prize going to benefit the Niji-Iro ‘Rainbow’ Cinema Support Project, which holds movie nights, offers hot catered meals and provides social activities for victims of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami still living in temporary housing a year after the disaster.
Add to that a live DJ set by Brandon Hocura (Invisible City Sound System, Polyphasic Recording) and it will be a great night for a great film festival… and a great cause!
Please note this is a 19+ licensed event (i.e. adults only). For more information visit Shinsedai’s web site.
