Satoshi Kon and Kihachiro Kawamoto memorial episode

Like the thousands of other film and animation fans who have had the pleasure to experience their work, we here at VCinema were saddened to hear about the deaths of two creative and influential filmmakers and animators.  Kihachiro Kawamoto (pictured above right) succumbed to pneumonia, on August 24, 2010 followed the next day by the passing of Satoshi Kon due to pancreatic cancer.  We here at VCinema send condolences to the friends and families of these two men.

To memorialize these two men, VCinema will be dedicating episode 15 to looking at both Kon’s and Kawamoto’s careers as well as reviewing two of their works, respectively, Paprika and Book of the Dead.  If you are interested in contributing to this episode, feel free to tell us some of  your favorite works, scenes, memories etc of these two filmmakers by leaving us a message on our voicemail (206) 426-1390 or recording an mp3 and emailing it to

As we plan to release this episode on October 22nd, all contributions are due by October 17th.

Thank you.
