An Evening Conversation with Tsai Ming-liang, May 19
One of the great cinematic poets of our era, Tsai Ming-liang has created some of the most enduring visual masterpieces of the past thirty years, from Vive L’Amour to The Hole and from Goodbye, Dragon Inn to Days. He has been award numerous top prizes for his work at the Venice International Film Festival (Special Jury Prize for The River, Grand Jury Prize for Stray Dogs), the Berlin International Film Festival (Silver Bear for The River, Outstanding Artistic Achievement for The Wayward Cloud), and Cannes (FIPRESCI award for The Hole).
In this rare online dialogue with UCLA Center for Chinese Studies’ Director, Michael Berry, Tsai will reflect on his career and major works.
